The suggested donation of $10 from Milonga Del Puerto participants is intended to cover the work of supplying and maintaining the flooring, the duct tape, storage and transportion, publicity, DJ services, and so forth.
Details of Set-up: We unload 8 rolls of vinyl at Seaport parking lot and transport them by dolly to the Gazebo foot of Morris St. These are unrolled over the swept boardwalk area and duct-taped together. A sound system and banner are also set up. 3 people can do this in about 20 minutes! Take down is usually has many hands, roll them up, return to parking lot, etc. I store the flooring in my home shed and load and unload them from there into my car.
Footwear notice: Heel-covers required on pointy spike heels, as the sharp points may puncture the vinyl. You can order these on line and I will try to have a stash on hand ($2 a pair).

Background: Tangonova began hosting the waterfront milonga in 2011, and is now one of 3 or 4 social dance groups using the Gazebo area (technically known as Tall Ships Quay) during the summer, via an application process to Develop Nova Scotia, the provincial company that manages the Hfx waterfront. The company does not provide any funding for community dance events on the boardwalk. They kindly provide and maintain the space and list these activities on their web site.
