Focus by Class
TUES April 25: Walk – The Long & the Short of it!
a deceptively simple way to make your tango walk  far more interesting, dynamic and musical, without learning any new steps.
WEDNESDAY May 3: Axis Points & Pivotal Moments
a chance to really focus on what we mean by find your or her axis,  maintain  axis, pivot on axis, go around her axis, go off-axis, etc. Axis work is fundamental to tango, and the key to turns.  We won’t do anything radical in this class but work with our connection to balance  awareness of  our own and how it impacts our partners.
 TUES May 9: Embrace Awareness:
a chance to explore various embrace dynamics as you are moving thru familiar steps. Ask questions and discuss with your partner. Though we talk about a stable embrace in tango, that embrace will need to adjust to circumstances of the type of steps, height of partner, etc. This class is not about close vs open…there really is no such distinction in Argentine tango. There are dancers that always stay close, avoiding big “open” moves, and there are those who adjust from close to open, in order to employ a more expansive vocabulary. Most advanced dancers do both styles, depending on the  music and the dance floor environment.
TUES May 16:  Intention, Extension & Suspension!
a game-changer technique. Watch Vince! Understanding step intention and leg extension will  automatically create suspension and an element of playful rhythmic surprise. No need to know more than side steps and forward/backward walking, outside and inside.
TUES May 23: Tango’s 3 Track System (Part 1)
– To the Dark Side & Back  (description forthcoming)
TUES May 30: Tango’s 3 Track System (Part 2)
– “Nuevo” Perspectives   (description forthcoming)
TUES June 6 : Review = Free to full series registrants or $5 for drop-ins.
