Sunday, Oct 30:  “Rap on Wraps”  Class & Practica with Max and Margaret
1313 Hollis
3-4:30 pm Class
4:30-6 pm Open Practice
Max and Margaret will  introduce the concept of the leg wrap in one specific figure, and  then examine  various entrances, exits, embellishments and timing. Discover how  momentum and off-axis posture  produce both powerful and flowing wraps. Special tips for followers on the free leg dynamics. Designed for new and experienced wrappers. We encourage those with more experience to share their knowledge with those who are just learning the dynamics of the tango leg wrap.
COST:
Class & Practica 3-6 pm
$15 per person / $25 per couple
Pre-registration is helpful.
Practica  only (4:30-6 pm) $5
This is the first of several fall classes with Max and Margaret  examining wraps & off axis moments.
IS THIS TOO EASY FOR ME? = If you already know the basic figure, then you can enjoy going into depth with the variations, learning new entrances, exits and timing.
IS THIS TOO HARD FOR ME? = probably not, if you know the basics. Leg wraps grew rapidly in popularity about a decade ago because they were more easily mastered by new dancers than some other tango concepts like  turns  with sacadas, ganchos & boleos. The wrap combines elements of the  boleo (whip) and gancho (hook). They are interactive, fun and engaging. They have falling out as a topic at festivals (passé) but are still widely danced for the simple pleasure of doing them.  (BTW this historical analysis is  my opinion, not tango gospel!)
