April 26-28: Awakening Your Tango Body: Spring Tango Intensive with special guest participant tanguera Brigitta Winkler (Berlin/NYC), presented by Margaret Spore (Tangonova) with assistance from Michael Scott,
Co-founder of the performance group Tango Mujeres, and a leader in the re-introduction of Argentine tango in Europe in the late 1980s, Brigitta Winkler remains one of my most influential tango mentors (starting in 1998). Trained also in Body-Mind Centering, Brigitta has an inspiring ability to awaken in dancers the physical and emotional tools required to make our tango shine. A previous guest of Tangonova in Halifax in 2009 and 2010, she is well-remembered for her savvy contributions to our tango learning.
Brigitta has collaborated and/or partnered with many wonderful tango dancers: Cacho Dante, Tomas Howlin, Sharna Fabiano, to name a few. A gifted follower, who also leads, Brigitta is an advocate for women tangueras, promoting the concept tango beyond roles. She offers enriching women’s tango retreat yearly, such as Aloha Girls.
I have taken about half dozen workshops with her since 1998 – much of her step and musical style has been incorporated into the tango I now dance and teach, in both lead and follow roles.

Tangonova Weekend Program REGISTRATION GUIDE FOR SINGLES & COUPLES
Via email or phone (not text): Specify class choices, your role and if partnered, your partner’s name and contact info. Registrants not known to Tangonova, please give a short background of your tango experience & include your phone number!
Single registrants will remain on a wait list in the order they are received and will receive notice of acceptance when another single of the complimentary role signs up for that class. Note that Tangonova does not match singles with specific others. So, at the start of a class, who is your partner? Anyone not dancing is your partner! All dancers are registered as individual leads or follows, rather than as couples. This is tango democracy, folks.
To avoid the wait list as single, you may register with a partner of the appropriate level. Remember, once accepted as a single lead or follow, changing your status to coupled does not work. Couple up before registering, if that is your intent!
All registrants, please arrange payment upon receiving confirmation of acceptance into your class choices. Payment by interac e-transfer, cash, or cheque to Margaret Spore. A limited number of work-study position will be available for those in need.
Role-balanced classes allow for the maximum learning experience and that is our goal. However, to incorporate unforeseen cancellations, Tangonova’s guest workshop policy is to pre-register a role-balance within two in either direction and implement a guided rotation thru out the classes.
If you have any questions or concerns with these policies, please address them at the time of your initial registration.
